| We went to Yokohama on Saint Patrick's Day just gone? |
| as rare a sight as any I have seen. |
| O'Sakaguchi led, and as he twirled his big baton |
| we marched along, a-wearing of the green. |
| Behind him came the Kawasaki Firemen's Marching Band. |
| They played "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen". |
| It wasnft great for marching but we tried and, hand-to-hand, |
| we swayed along, a-wearing of the green. |
| Next came the Fuji Ladies' Irish Dancers: they were good, |
each one a black-haired Japanese colleen. |
Mac Nakamura piped them on with "Maggie in the Wood" |
and they jigged along, a-wearing of the green. |
| The Tokyo Irish Setters' Club were out that day in force. |
The dogs were pretty lively, and were keen |
to join the fun. In natty caps, and well rehearsed of course, |
they pranced along, a-wearing of the green. |
| They took me for a native on Saint Patrick's Day just gone |
(though Ifm about as Irish as the Queen), |
and queued to take my picture, since I was the only one, |
as we proudly marched, a-wearing of the green. |
